“This is to update you on the results of the Dorje Kasung funding campaign. To call it a success is an understatement. We have planted a seed that will grow and provide financial opportunities to the Dorje Kasung for many generations to come. Combining the dollars raised with the matching dollars, we reached a grand total of $92,063 (US), of which $60,000 will go to seed our endowment, and the rest to projects, including the kitchen at Dorje Denma Ling.
The Sakyong Foundation has set up the legal structure to house the Dorje Kasung Endowment. The Council of the Makkyi Rabjam is working with the Foundation’s staff to finalize the investment statement, strategy and plan. Be assured, there will be a conservative approach to investing; our priority is the preservation of capital.
Please continue to make contributions to the Dorje Kasung Endowment. This is your money. This is our money. This money is vital to our future and the generations of Dorje Kasung yet to serve. Thank you for your generosity and enthusiasm.

DORJE KASUNG ENDOWMENT
The Dorje Kasung is the largest volunteer service organization within Shambhala, an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by the Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and currently headed by his son, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. The Dorje Kasung is modeled on the ancient tradition of dharma protectors. Its members are trained in protecting the space in which meditation practitioners are able to hear and practice the teachings. The protection extends to the teacher who presents the teachings, the teachings themselves, and the community who practice the teachings.
In 2008, The Sakyong Foundation offered a Dorje Kasung Endowment and Special Projects Matching Fund campaign. Through a combination of one-time and recurring monthly investment, a seed Endowment of $60,000 has been established in which contributions become a legacy that is protected and invested for the benefit of the Dorje Kasung service organization.
