Dorje Kasung Endowment

In 2008, a seed Endowment of $60,000 was established for the benefit of the Dorje Kasung service organization. With the completion of a 2012 matching campaign, the fund has topped $100,000.

The Dorje Kasung is the largest volunteer service organization in Shambhala, and is modeled on the ancient Tibetan tradition of “dharma protectors.” Kasung are trained in holding and protecting the physical space for the practice and study of meditation. This protection extends to the teacher who presents the teachings, the teachings themselves, and the community of students. The Dorje Kasung also provides “health and wellbeing” and other community care services for people in need.

We are envisioning a time in the near future when the endowment fund has grown significantly and the yearly investment income can meaningfully support current projects and will also become a legacy that provides financial stability for the generations of Dorje Kasung yet to serve.

All gifts to The Dorje Kasung Endowment in 2012 will be matched by 50%.
